Though not known as a college basketball power house by any measure, the Holy Cross Crusaders were an electric team to watch during the late 70’s when they were led by school stand out Ronny Perry. Holy Cross would make the NCAA Tournament twice during Perry’s time at the school in both 1977 and 1980 (his senior season and the last year they would play in the East Coast Conference which would be dissolved in 1994). Perry is still the school’s all time leading scorer with 2,524 points. As a freshman he would average 23.0 points a game and earn second team All-American honors. He would go on to be a four time All-American selection and earn first-team honors his senior year. Perry would go on to break almost every record known to Holy Cross basketball through 1977 to 1980 including: Field Goals Made (922) FG’s attempted (1949), Free Throw’s made (680) and attempted (768) and FT% (.885). Perry would go on to be drafted by the Celtics in 1980.
